Mark Harris on the summer box office this year:
Should studios be worried? I think they should be, a little. It’s probably not a complete coincidence that the year’s biggest surprise hit, The Lego Movie, is a self-aware fable predicting an eventual revolt by a captive audience that’s tired of being told that everything is awesome when everything isn’t.
Archie and the Riverdale gang by John Byrne. 2010.
John said this at the time of the drawing:
Some of you might be interested in these doodles I did a while back, playing around with drawing the Archie characters in my own style.
I think you should be able to figure out who most of them are. Miss Grundy is missing because she wasn’t featured in the Archie comic I had immediately to hand, and since this was strictly for my own amusement, I didn’t feel like searching for an image.
I am fascinated by comics artists doing the Archie characters off model, I’m their own style. All of the Riverdale gang here are completely recognizable, but Byrne’s style shines through. I would love to see a whole series in this style.
